Disznókő is a defining, style-creating winery in the Tokaj Wine Region. The estate plays a leading role in the rebirth of Tokaj wines, which is manifested in the search for the perfect balance of rich flavours, fruit, freshness and, in the case of sweet wines, richness and depth due to the noble rot of the botrytised grapes.
The First Growth vineyards, which have excellent qualities, were once cultivated by influential aristocratic families (such as Lónyay, Andrássy, Patay). Since 1992, it has been owned by AXA Millésimes, which also owns prestigious châteaux in Bordeaux, as well as estates in Burgundy, Porto and California.
The goal of the Disznókő has been to renew Tokaji Aszú and to introduce it to the world. Its contiguous 110-hectare vineyard area is one of the most favourable sites for Aszú in the Tokaj, from which modern-style, noble sweet wines have been made since 1992. The estate welcomes visitors, and in the Sárga Borház Restaurant on the estate visitors can even taste the wines of Disznókő and other leading Tokaj wineries as a wine dinner. www.disznoko.hu
